What is the Youth Empowerment Program?

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) provides wraparound support for Bundjalung youth (15-17 years) through a culturally embedded framework centered on deep connection to Country.  

Weaving together cultural strengthening, traditional skills, therapeutic support, and positive mentorship, Jagun YEP helps young people build resilience, identity and purpose. 

Participants receive real world, hands on, group experience and an opportunity to open pathways toward a career in caring for Country. 

Key Activities

Activities include: 

  • Cultural burning techniques 

  • Build a foundation of personal awareness 

  • Learn skills in bushland management 

  • Cultural connection with traditional knowledge holders 

  • Mentoring support 

  • Professional development and career guidance 

  • Culture camp  

How You Can Be Involved

Are you 15-17 years old? Get some real world, hands on experience on Country while reconnecting with your roots in the Youth Empowerment Program.

This program is for mob to connect with Culture and Country, build confidence, explore career pathways, and receive mentoring and support.

We will support you with:

  • Securing ID

  • Work experience

  • Finding employment

  • Getting into a training course
